Visiting the Reserve

When to Visit

Members of the public can enjoy the Reserve and its wildlife, try their hand at pond dipping and talk to our volunteers on Wednesdays from April to August (2-5pm) and the first Saturday of each month from 2-4pm (see Events). We have built an all-weather path to make the site accessible to all.

There is something of interest all year round. It is particularly attractive in spring when the cherry blossom, bulbs and early flowers are out. Also in summer when the summer flowers attract lots of insects and the dragonflies and damselflies come to breed.

Organised group and school visits are very welcome. Environmental activities can be planned to suit all ages and abilities. The Friends have many ideas and resources and can help to lead topics such as minibeasts, pond dipping and biological identification.

Slide shows, walks and talks can also be arranged.

Please note there is a pond in the Reserve which is deep in the middle. Dogs are permitted, but must be kept on a lead.
